Knox Ghost Rides Again!

More than a year ago, Haunted Knoxville Ghost Tours was rocked by a loss. Our original domain name, www.knoxghost.com, was ripped from our clutches by a set of online opportunists. The domain was ransomed back to us for a colossal upcharge. Though lesser teams might have paid the bounty, we held fast. Luckily, after months and months of waiting, not to mention rebranding all of our materials to www.knoxghost.net, Haunted Knoxville Ghost Tours has triumphed. In the words of J- Adam Smith, “I refused to give in.”

“We are KnoxGhost,” says Smith and the name is finally, “back in the family.” Now, whether you’re partial to “.net” or “.com” you’ll be able to find the home of Haunted Knoxville Ghost Tours, and the answers to all your paranormal investigation needs. This kind of thievery is common to active online businesses like HKGT, as companies from around the world constantly track website traffic and jump on any vulnerable domain. According to our founder, when it comes to website ownership, small business owners have to be sure to, “Read the fine print.”

However, when it comes to making sure that Knoxvillians can reach out to experience our haunted city, and making sure they find the right guide through that world, changing our domain and its associated efforts was a, “[labor] of love.” Until next time, the investigation continues at www.knoxghost.com .

South Knoxville in grips of Poltergeist?

May 21, 2015
|Bob H Boyd ~ Investigative Reporter | Knoxghost.NET

Some of our oldest stories warn against disturbing the ground where we lay our deceased. It’s a concept that seems instinctual across many cultures and times. From Dia de Los Muertos in Mexico to holding your breath while walking past Old Gray Cemetery, these superstitions reach deep in our collective psyche. Could there be something to this innate desire? Perhaps the energies in these places need our consideration, are prone to being thrown out of sync.

Certainly these “horror” stories fascinate us. They receive top billing at our theaters and sell right off the shelves of our bookstores. One of the most striking works on this topic has to be 1982’s Poltergeist. This story of upsetting a Native American burial ground, and the paranormal violence that ensues, was certainly my first deep, unsettling fright. So popular was this film that a remake is hitting theaters this very night.

Now, some of our investigators here at Haunted Knoxville Ghost Tours have heard rumors of burial mounds, similar to those described in the movie Poltergeist, in South Knoxville. Sources confirm that there are burial mounds, each housing between ten and one hundred graves, on Cherokee Boulevard and the Agricultural Campus of the University of Tennessee. What kind of latent energies lie in wait at these sites? One of the fundamental principles of the work that we do (keep an eye out for upcoming articles relating to this topic) is that great amounts of trauma often accompany paranormal activity. It begs the question of how these mounds affect our fair city. Furthermore, could there be similar, undiscovered sites in South Knoxville, paved over by time and development?

If the archetypal story put forth in Poltergeist holds any truth, then these burial mounds could be rich centers of history as well as paranormal energy. Have we done all that we can to preserve and honor these sights? What might the consequences be for neglecting them? As always, we at Haunted Knoxville Ghost Tours will continue to investigate, and ask that, if you know any of these sites or have witnessed any hard-to-explain occurrences, you please come forward.

Saturday, February 28th, 2015

Historic Ramsey House at 2614 Thorn Grove Pike in Knoxville will be introducing to the public, for the first time, the results of the paranormal investigation by Haunted Knoxville Ghost Tour’s J-Adam Smith and captured on video by Patrick Watson of Mapletree Productions.

In this Award Winning presentation you will see the long awaited results that may put to rest all the speculation as to whether Historic Ramsey House is haunted. “For years,” said Director Judy LaRose, “there have been reports of spiritual or ghostly sightings by passer-bys, neighbors, visitors and even some of our own board members and staff. We felt it was time to put the rumors to rest by having a Paranormal Investigation.”

The half hour video documents the investigation along with the history of the home and family.  There will then be a half hour tour led by J Adam Smith discussing the details of paranormal investigating. We think you will find this as exciting and fascinating as we did.

This fundraiser will start with a VIP session at 5:30pm. It will include a brief history of Ramsey House and the Ramsey family. J-Adam Smith along with Lindsey Whatley will be presenting Ghost Hunting 101. You will learn the ins and outs of the Ghost Hunting business, the equipment used and how to interpret the results.
